Our Dog is Dead

  • Mood: Sad
  • Music: Carly Simon (from Faith's bedroom)

I am very sad to say that our little black ShiTzu-Poo dog, Angus, was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday afternoon.  Faith and Alex were walking along the edge of the woods by our house, going up to see our neighbor (the sweetest lady!) and of course, Angus was right there with them.  Well, a car came speeding by, and he ran out in front of it, and was apparently killed on impact.  The driver kept going, even though my children were standing by the road screaming, and there is NO WAY the driver couldn't have seen them.

I cried until my eyes swole shut. . . I cried myself to sleep.  I've been sick at heart ever since, and I just can't get rid of the image of his sweet little lifeless body laying there in the middle of the road.  He was such a sweet little dog, and he loved Faith more than life itself.  We got him when she was about 9 months old, and he never left her side after that.  Where she went, he went.  When she was really little, and would try to go down to the barn to see our goats, he would come and tell on her, because he knew she wasn't supposed to go down there alone.  He was a wonderful watchdog, and was always happy.  I loved him so much because he loved my baby girl so much!

I have to say that I think that the driver of that vehicle is a coward, and has no decency!  How could someone just run over a dog like that, and leave it laying in the road????  What kind of monster could just drive off and leave little children screaming for their murdered pet???

I am going to put a sign up at the edge of our yard, with big bold letters saying that our little dog was killed by a hit-and-run driver while my children watched!  He might not have been able to avoid hitting Angus, but he sure as hell could've slowed down, which according to Alex, he was driving pretty fast, and once he hit him, he should have stopped.  I know unforgiveness is wrong, and I need to not be bitter, but this is so hard!  This person killed my dog, and hurt my children.  They will always remember this, and this person didn't even have enough decency to stop and say they were sorry!

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I haven't posted in a long time, and I just wanted to write about this.  It's cathartic, somehow.  At least I hope so.

I am so sorry to hear about Angus - he was a very special and unique dog. This had to be a traumatic experience for Alex and Faith... Give them a big hug from me.

What a terrible thing! I know that Angus will be missed by all, and I do hope the H&R person comes forward so that you can have some closing. Love to all
